Our History

The Founder
J. Michael Lane was born in Bakersfield. He attended school in Bakersfield, and after spending some time on the East Coast, where he met his wife, he moved back to Bakersfield, and this is and always has been Home.
Humble Beginnings
AirCare Heating and Air Conditioning started as a Sole Proprietorship in 1996 after “Mike” Lane graduated from SJVC with his technician’s certification. Mike studied under Glenn Bland, who was an instructor at the time and assisted Glenn with his new company “Bland Air Conditioning” between classes. With all the extra practice, it is not hard to see why Mike excelled in Air Conditioning and earned top honors in his class.

Mike’s love of Air Conditioning is contagious. So much so that his daughter’s fiance (now husband) started taking classes in HVAC, in hopes that someday he could take over the family business. Carlos Perez is the first member of the Air Care family to go the extra step and earn a full B.S. in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC). He quickly showed the team the value of additional education and became Air Care’s top technician, helping to coach and grow some of the technicians who were already on the job for as much as 5 years before him.

A Fresh Start
In 2015, Air Care Heating and Air Conditioning took the next step in becoming a formidable entity in the Air Conditioning and Heating service and repair industry. Air Care, the sole proprietorship, became Air Care, the LLC, which gives Air Care the standing power to outlive its founder and continue on for many years to come.
